How do I know it is the sewer and not just a drain?
When the whole house backs up at once and gullies overflow outside, the main line is the problem. One slow sink by itself points to a single branch drain instead.
Will roots grow back after the line is cleared?
Cutting roots reopens the pipe but the cracked joint stays cracked, so regrowth is common. The camera pass shows whether a permanent repair makes sense now or later.
Does the backyard get dug up?
Usually not. Jetting and root cutting work from existing openings, and excavation only comes into it when the camera finds a collapsed or broken section that jetting cannot fix.
What should I do while waiting for the plumber?
